Late Summer Blooming Flowers

Each bulb produces several flower stalks and the blossoms last for many weeks. The flowers appear in late summer, just when many other shrubs and perennials are fading.

Following are the perennials that are in full flower today in our august garden, many of which started blooming in early july. Many other hydrangeas bloom on “old wood”…or last year’s growth. They bloom in early july and has wonderful, showy flowers (which we professed our love for in the dcist) that can range from white to deep purple.

Plants can be cut back after flowering to encourage new growth and more blooms.
